Scenes are the building blocks of creative writing. Where does a writer begin and end a scene? How much significant detail should she add? How best to weave telling and showing together to create writing worth reading? Explore these questions and more in this intensive with Sarah Creech as she focuses on the art of summary, showing, and structure of a scene in creative nonfiction and fiction. Together we will study literary models in multiple genres to explore different ways to construct scenes. Each week participants will create and share work for feedback.
Sarah Creech has published two novels with William Morrow. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in various publications including Lit Hub,The Cortland Review,Writer's Digest, StorySouth, Monkeybicycle, and the Washington Independent Review of Books.
She's an Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing at Queens University of Charlotte where she serves as chair of the department and lives in Charlotte with her husband, children, and a silly Chiweenie.
The cost is $120.00 for CWC members, $160 for non-members.
